Bay Head & Mantoloking Today – Events, Market, Aerial Views

All is well here in Bay Head and Mantoloking, as the snow starts to fall from the first winter storm of Spring!  We hope that you’re safe and warm wherever you may be.  Depending on who you believe, 6 to 12 inches of snow is the prediction for our area!  Note that the Bay Head and Mantoloking borough halls are closed today due to the weather (3/21).

Because of the wind, my voice may be hard to understand, but the caption above sums things up!

News

Bay Head recently passed a resolution requiring that all houses be indentified by house numbers at least 3″ high, located on the house, or on a small sign in the front yard, at least 3 feet above the ground.  The goal is to make sure that emergency responders and other can easily identify a house if needed. Hopefully the town will publish the full resolution soon.  Clean Ocean Action’s Beach Sweeps are scheduled for April 21st at 9:00AM.  Bay Head’s gathering point is the Beach House Classic Board Shop, and registration and details can be found here.

In Mantoloking, the summer garbage/recycling schedule resumes on April 2nd – “Starting April 2nd   through September 28, 2018  Republic Services will be picking up garbage twice a week (Monday and Thursday), Recycling (Wednesday). Bulk pickup will be the 4th Thursday of each month.”  You may also find the New Jersey Wastewise Bulletin useful.

Ocean County has published their 2018 Household Hazardous waste Disposal Schedule as well. You can find it here.

Beach Replenishment

Subject to the limits imposed by weather, beach replenishment activity continues in Mantoloking, and work remains scheduled for Bay Head sometime this summer.  Currently, the dredges have taken shelter from the storm, and all equipment has been moved to the top of the sune for safety reasons. The latest schedule, closures, and other information for both towns can be found here.  If you have more specific questions, please ask, and we will get the answers for you.  You can see some recent aerial views of Bay Head (video and still) here, and a slideshow of beach replenishment activity in Mantoloking below.

You can also see an aerial flyby of the “new” beach in Mantoloking, from Herbert Street north, taken this week.
