Two Years After Sandy
Today marks the two year anniversary of Super Storm Sandy. Earlier, I shared the following poem about Sandy on Facebook. I was in Mantoloking that night, and for 8 days straight afterwards. The photos are from October 30th and 31st, 2012. You can find more of my photos from before, during, and after Sandy here.
Two years ago today, the island was in a bad way
Water covered us several feet deep
The lapping waves kept sleep at bay
Two years after Sandy, we’re doing pretty well
Houses are going up
But the roads are still bad as hell
The streets are dry
No storms in sight
It might just be a quiet night
Whoever you are
Wherever you dwell
Be thankful that you survived Sandy’s Halloween spell…
